Sambhal District is located in western part of Uttar Pradesh. Sambhal was declared as a District on 28 September 2011. The Sambhal District at the time of creation was made from Two Tehsils of Moradabad District and one Tehsil of Gunnaur from Badaun District . The total area of the Sambhal District is 2453.30 Sq. Km. and population 21.9. Lakhs as per Census of 2011. The District Administration headquarter of Sambhal district is presently established in Bahjoi town of Chandausi Tehsil. Sambhal has several places of religious and cultural significance. The Kaila Devi temple has a long history. Mother Kaila has two temples in the country. First in Rajasthan and the other in the Bhanga area of Sambhal. Here in the Navaratri it is said that the Goddess Darshan of the lion is coming. The banyan tree located in the temple premises is also of great significance. It is said that this banyan tree is seven hundred years old.
On 5 September 2017 it was declared by Government that the District and Session Courts for Sambhal District will be established in Chandausi. Munsif courts were functional in Sambhal and Chandausi as part of Moradabad district for approximately over 130 years. Court in Gunnor came into existence as outlying Court of District Badaun in 2006. District Sambhal came into existence in the year 2011 after carving out Sambhal and Chandausi sub divisions form district Moradabad and Gunnor Sub division from Badaun district. Previously to the creation of District Judiciary in the district, Sambhal and Chandausi Sub-division were functioning as outlying court of District Moradabad. Gunn0r was previously the outlying court of District Badaun. After the U.P Government’s notification in Septemeber 2017 , District Judiciairy was established in District Sambhal, with it’s headquarters at Chandausi. Sambhal, Chandausi and Gunnor were declared to be the outlying court of District Judiciary Sambhal at Chandausi. By the Hon’ble High Court Notification 35/Admin(Services)/2018 dated: Allahabad: Febraury 6, 2018, the first District and Session Judge of newly created Sessions Division at Sambhal at Chandausi was appointed. The Courts of District Sambhal, situated at Chandausi has been established in 6 court room building which was earlier a part of outlying court Chandausi. The court premises at Outlying court of Sambhal have the Indo Conical Architectural Style. Court of Munsif Sambhal has been functional for around 130 years now. In the Outlying court at Sambhal, three Court rooms of Judicial Officers at Civil Judge(Junior Division) Cadre are established and four residence for Judicial Officers are available.
